During your personal consultation, Dr. Vu will meet with you to discuss your XERF structural skin tightening treatment. She will ask you about your medical history, discuss your skin concerns, and learn more about your goals. She will also perform a physical evaluation to assess your skin.

Using this information, Dr. Vu will finalize your candidacy and craft your treatment plan. She will determine the most effective XERF settings for your skin type, and she may also recommend pairing your treatment with another for more comprehensive results. Preparation

To prime your skin for treatment, Dr. Vu will provide you with a set of detailed preparation instructions. These instructions are straightforward, but you must follow each one she gives you. She may instruct you to:

  • Modify your skincare routine to avoid harsh or irritating skin care products, such as chemical peels, retinoids/retinols, or exfoliants.
  • Avoid tanning, as well as direct or excessive sun exposure.
  • Wear the proper sun protection when leaving the house, as sun damage may delay your treatment.
  • Keep your skin hydrated by wearing moisturizer and drinking plenty of water.
  • Arrive at your treatment with clean skin that is free from any makeup products, skin care residue, or facial jewelry.

Procedure

Each XERF structural skin tightening treatment can take anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes to perform. This treatment requires no anesthesia, but Dr. Vu can discuss potential numbing options during your consultation if you have more sensitive skin.

At the beginning of your treatment, a member of the SkinZone Medical team will cleanse your skin. Dr. Vu will then take the XERF handpiece and pass it over the treatment area, delivering radiofrequency energy into your skin. Throughout the procedure, the XERF system will adapt to your unique skin profile and automatically adjust its energy levels and temperature using its Accurate Impedance Feedback. The device will also cool your skin throughout the treatment to keep you comfortable.

Once Dr. Vu addresses the entire treatment area, she may apply a serum or ointment to calm and soothe your skin.

Recovery

XERF structural skin tightening requires no downtime, which means you will be free to return to your routine after your treatment. You may notice some temporary redness in the treated areas, but these effects will dissipate on their own shortly after. You may also experience some tightness, which means the skin has successfully contracted and the treatment has been effective.

You will need to avoid sun exposure and harsh or irritating skincare products for several days to one week to allow your skin to heal. Dr. Vu will provide additional post-treatment instructions after your procedure to help you care for your skin as it heals.

Results

You will be able to notice immediate improvements in the tightness of your skin, but you can experience the full results as your internal collagen levels continue to rise. You may enjoy smoother, softer, and tighter skin, as well as a more youthful-looking appearance overall.
