About Weight Loss
Obesity is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases worldwide, affecting approximately 650 million people. (1) At SkinZone, we offer both semaglutide and tirzepatide to help each patient potentially achieve their wellness goals.
Semaglutide
Semaglutide is an injectable medication designed to help patients manage type 2 diabetes. It is a GLP-1 agonist, replicating a hormone that regulates appetite and helps control blood sugar levels.
Tirzepatide
Tirzepatide is also a GLP-1 medication, but it acts as a dual GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist that targets multiple metabolic pathways in the body. (2)
Body Contouring Procedures for After Weight Loss
At SkinZone Medical, we offer many body contouring procedures for patients who have completed their journeys and want to address excess, drooping skin, and stubborn fat deposits. Some of our body-contouring procedures include:
- Liposuction: Liposuction is a highly popular procedure that removes unwanted fat deposits from various areas of the body. This procedure can be performed as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with another.
- Arm Tuck: An arm tuck, or arm lift, is a surgical procedure that reshapes the upper arm by removing excess skin and fat. Also referred to as a brachioplasty, this procedure contours the arm, leaving patients with a more toned appearance.
- Emsculpt: Emsculpt is a popular non-invasive body treatment that uses high-intensity electromagnetic stimulation to help stimulate intense muscle contractions to reduce fat and build muscle. This treatment is ideal for patients who have experienced difficulties achieving desirable results through traditional exercise alone.

Ideal Candidates
The ideal candidates for weight loss include anyone interested in long-term weight management. Patients with a high BMI, ranging from 27-30, are recommended for our treatments. (3, 4) Individuals experiencing at least one weight-related condition are also eligible for these treatments.
All candidates interested in our treatments should be in good overall health, with realistic expectations regarding the outcome of their treatment. Additionally, patients should be free from any underlying medical conditions that may affect their ability to take the medication. Each person’s candidacy will be determined at their personal consultation by our specialist.

Personal Consultation
Each patient is asked to attend a personal consultation before starting their weight loss treatment. This meeting is not only designed for our team to get to know each patient more personally but also to help find the best weight loss solution for them. The specialist will first meet with each patient to discuss each treatment and how they work, before collecting more information on the patient’s medical history, treatment goals, and concerns. A medical examination may also be performed to evaluate each patient’s physical anatomy.
The specialist will then recommend the best treatment for each patient’s needs, tailoring certain aspects to help target specific concerns. Any necessary preparation and recovery guidelines will also be provided along with a written estimate for the treatment.
To start your weight loss journey, please schedule your personal consultation by calling our Alhambra office at (626) 329-4555, our Santa Ana office at (714) 361-1555, or submitting our online contact form.
Preparing for Treatment
Each patient will receive a set of preparatory guidelines, instructing them on how to prepare for their treatment. Instruction will vary from patient to patient depending on the treatment being received. Generally speaking, patients should make an effort to adopt healthy lifestyles before the start of their treatment. This may include actions such as eating nutritious meals, staying hydrated, and regularly exercising. Further information will be provided at the consultation.
Results

Those receiving medications such as tirzepatide or semaglutide may experience a reduced appetite and increased metabolism. They may also experience increased feelings of satiety after eating smaller portions. Both semaglutide and tirzepatide are designed to be long-term medications, meaning patients must adhere to the weekly injection schedule for a prolonged period of time in order to see significant results, although the results will vary. Most patients are on the medication for a year or longer. Once they achieve results, patients decide whether they want to remain on the medication, remain on a maintenance dose, or cease the medication altogether.
Engaging in weight loss treatments can help each patient enhance their overall health and well-being by reducing symptoms of heart disease, hypertension, stroke, or heart attack.
