Lipo360 is a highly effective body contouring technique that removes fat from the entire circumference of the midsection. It can be combined with a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) to produce striking aesthetic results for patients looking to contour their waist and enhance their bottom.
An hourglass-like figure is the envy of many. We may feel as though our fat is distributed in the wrong places, with an excess in the abdomen and not enough in the butt. Some people complain that this fat distribution doesn’t give them the chance to wear fashionable clothing or show off their bodies. This imbalance can be addressed efficiently by removing fat from the abdomen and transferring it to the buttocks. Many patients appreciate the convenience of solving two problems in one surgery, making a Lipo360 with BBL procedure a popular cosmetic surgery choice.

Redistributing Fat in Your Body
Adipose tissue, the medical term for fat, is something that’s essential to us in the right amounts. It functions as a protective encasement for vital organs and offers us insulation in the cold. It’s beneficial for most adults to have a healthy amount of fat distributed around the body. However, where this fat is deposited is very much dependent on our age, our sex, our genetics, and our lifestyle.
Many women struggle with stubborn fat deposits in the midsection. They may know this colloquially as the “apple” body shape, where more weight is carried in the middle and the waist is not well-defined. Despite leading healthy lives, some people find that this excess fat won’t go away, even though they are eating healthily and exercising regularly. Similarly, others complain that they have too much fat in the abdomen and not enough in the buttocks. A so-called “flat butt” can make a person feel self-conscious about what they wear and may lead to feelings of inadequacy. Even women with other body types find that after one or more pregnancies, the areas of fat in their midsection may change permanently without surgical intervention.
Lipo360 combined with BBL surgery is a way to redistribute areas of unwanted fat to areas where it’s more aesthetically beneficial. This enables patients to recontour their bodies in a way that makes them feel both radiant and confident!
What is Lipo360?
After over 40 years, liposuction continues to be in the top five most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States. It’s also the most popular aesthetic surgery in the world! (1) And usually, it focuses on a particular area such as a lower abdominal pooch, love handles, and back fat. But, what if these could all be tackled at the same time?
Lipo360, also known as circumferential liposuction, is a body contouring technique that permanently removes fat from the front of the abdomen, the sides, and the back. By removing fat from the midsection in 360 degrees, patients can experience dramatic aesthetic results the whole way round. And, it doesn’t end there! The fat that is removed can then be specially treated and used in a BBL procedure to enhance your proportions and create a smooth, refined hourglass silhouette.
The Brazilian butt lift, or gluteal fat transfer, has been a headline-grabbing procedure for some time. Autologous fat grafting is a technique that takes fat from one part of a patient’s body and places it into another. In the case of the BBL, it is placed in the subcutaneous tissue of the buttocks. This is precisely what happens during a Lipo360 and BBL procedure. After fat is skillfully harvested from the abdomen, flanks, and back, it is specially treated before being injected into the buttocks to enhance their shape. Fat grafting contours and reshapes the buttocks, improving overall body shape, with the simultaneous benefit of improving the donor site’s aesthetic appearance. (2)
Benefits of Lipo360 with BBL
- Removes fat 360 degrees around the midsection, sides, and back.
- Targets stubborn fat deposits that diet and exercise can’t reach.
- Combination procedure that utilizes the patient’s own fat.
- Smooths skin and enhances feminine contours.
- Enhances the appearance of the buttocks for a contoured “hourglass” figure.
- Helps patients achieve substantial body contour changes.
- Can improve body confidence and self-esteem.
- Allows patients more freedom to wear the clothes they want to wear
Candidates for Lipo360 with a Brazilian butt lift are patients who want to get rid of excess fat in the abdomen, sides, and back and who also want to enhance the size of their gluteal area. It’s particularly beneficial for patients who want to address multiple body contour issues in one surgery and is popular with patients who have uneven fat distribution in the midsection and patients who have had multiple pregnancies. You may not be a good fit for liposuction and fat transfer if you:
- Have a body mass index (BMI) over 35
- Cannot give up smoking or alcohol for the appropriate amount of time
- Have a serious heart, lung, or neurological condition
- Have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a blood clotting disorder
- Have unrealistic aesthetic expectations
It is important for patients to understand that, while Lipo360 refines body silhouette, it is not a substitute for weight-loss surgery. Candidates for Lipo360 with BBl should be a healthy weight and check their eligibility for treatment during their personal consultation at SkinZone Laser & Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr. Hannah can assess your needs at an individual consultation in Alhambra or Santa Ana. She will take the time to understand what you want to change about your body contour and will determine if Lipo360 with a BBL is a good fit for your goals. After filling out some patient intake forms, we’ll invite you to an examination room. Dr. Hannah will take a look at the donor sites for fat transfer to ensure there is a sufficient amount for the most aesthetically effective Brazilian butt lift. She will show you examples of what the surgery can achieve and ask you about your aesthetic goals. Once the session is complete, and Dr. Hannah concludes that Lipo360 with BBL is suitable, we will schedule your surgery date.
Getting Lipo360 with a BBL
Before your procedure, Dr. Hannah will give you individualized instructions regarding how to prepare. You may need to stop taking certain medications for a specific period of time, especially if they are blood thinning medications like aspirin and other NSAID pain relievers. She may also ask you to stop taking some dietary supplements that can increase bleeding, such as garlic, ginseng, and fish oil.
On the day of your surgery, we will prepare you for surgery by taking some “before” pictures and marking the areas for liposuction and fat transfer. Once this is complete, we will administer anesthesia. After the anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Hannah will make a small incision close to the first area of liposuction. She will then insert a cannula that will dislodge and remove fat from the area. She will then repeat this process until every area of the abdomen, flanks, and back has been addressed. Once all of the fat has been harvested, it will be cleaned and prepared for transfer to the buttocks. After suturing the liposuction areas carefully, Dr. Hannah will begin the next step of the procedure; fat transfer to the buttocks. She will make strategic incisions into the gluteal tissue and insert fat to the necessary volume to enhance your curves.
As with your preparation, Dr. Hannah will provide personalized instructions for your recovery. This may include wearing a special compression garment. You may need to take some time off work, so be sure to prepare well ahead of time with your employer. It helps to receive assistance from a designated caretaker during this time such as a close friend or family member. Dr. Hannah recommends they stay with you during the first 24-48 hours after your procedure.
During your recovery, you will be advised to rest up and avoid certain movements and body positions (like squatting). It is important to walk for limited periods a few times every day. You may also need to take prescription pain medication as there will be tenderness, swelling, and bruising that will cause some discomfort. After around a week, we will schedule another visit to remove your stitches.
Lipo360 with BBL is a strikingly effective body contouring procedure. You will notice an immediate reduction of fat in your midsection, although initially, these may be obscured by residual swelling. The final results of your BBL will not be as immediate, but they will come in time! It may take up to 6 months to see your completed results, but once you do, it will be well worth the wait. Once the swelling goes down and the full results are realized, you will have a smoother, slimmer, hourglass-like silhouette.
